Thanksgiving Day
|
Mass is celebrated at 10:00 a.m.
Parishioners are asked to donate non-perishable food items
and to bring them to the altar at Offertory.
The food items will be distributed to the Brentwood Food
Pantry.
Any monetary donations given on Thanksgiving Day are
presented to the Parish Social Ministry to assist them in
their work for the needy.
The fruit display in front of the altar will be packaged and
distributed to the shut-ins of our parish.

Giving Tree
The Giving Tree gives us an opportunity to share with
children and adults in need. Located in the front of church,
beginning on the first weekend of Advent, the tree is
adorned with bell and Christmas card ornaments. Each
ornament indicates either a child’s age or a suggested gift
for an adult. In some cases, the gift for a child may be the
only gift they will be receiving.
Gifts must be returned by December 9th, wrapped, with the
bell or card ornament on top. During this season of giving,
it is a beautiful act to give to those who are less
fortunate so they too can share the joy of Christmas.

Saint Nicholas’ Socks
Tradition has
it that Saint Nicholas placed gifts or money in socks or
shoes of the poor who left them outside their doors.
In honor of this benevolent saint, we will collect new socks
for the homeless. Baskets will be located at the entrances
of church.
Heavy socks
particularly white crew socks, are the best donation, but
any new socks will be accepted; along with warm scarves,
hats and gloves.
After the
sock collection, the socks are distributed by Dr. Withers of
Mercy Hospital, the founder of Operation Safety Net, who
makes his rounds on the streets of Pittsburgh taking care of
the homeless — checking their feet and giving them new
socks.

Gifts for Baby Jesus
Between
Christmas and the Feast of Saint Sylvester (December 31st)
infant gifts may be placed at the Nativity Scene inside of
church.
These
gifts are distributed to Mom’s House, Roselia Center and
other agencies that are Pro-Life and support low income and
young mothers who have decided not to abort their child, but
to give their child life and love.
Some
practical gifts include: diapers, bottles, sleepers, wipes,
onezes, undershirts, diaper bags as well as clothing in
