		Email Prayer Chain Ministry
		Our parish offers an email prayer chain ministry. The e-mail prayer chain is made up of people who regularly check their e-mail and desire to be part of the prayer team. Prayer requests will be sent via e-mail allowing you to pray for members and friends of our parish. If you would like to be a part of this ministry please send your email address to prayers@saintsylvesterparish.org. If you have a personal prayer request or would like to pass on requests from others they can also be emailed to the above address. Sensitivity and care will be taken to provide confidentiality in prayer requests. PRAYER INTENTIONS June 22, 2010 Connie, the mother of a parishioner. She had emergency surgery for a blood clot last week. Please pray for a speedy recovery and her upcoming operation in two weeks for an aneurysm. George Behare, a parishioner who has passed away. Amber, the friend of a parishioner who has stage 4 breast cancer, that God might be with her in this time of need and struggle. Louise, a friend of a parishioner, who was admitted at Mercy Hospital with several health problems. June 14, 2010 Josephine Toney, mother of parishioner Sam Toney (wife Mayra) who passed away Sunday morning. Josephine will be buried from Epiphany parish on Wednesday. Her obituary can be found in the Post Gazette. click here Virginia, mother of a parishioner, who has colon cancer. She will be having surgery today to remove three tumors. Due to her age (89) and health condition, the surgery and recovery will be challenging. Please pray for hers surgery and recovery and that the peace of Christ might be with her in this journey. Beth, daughter of a parishioner's friend, a diabetic who needs to have bypass surgery. Because of her diabetes there is some risk with the surgery. Chris, the friend of a parishioner who is to undergo serious heart surgery on Tuesday. Her surgeon feels there is a high risk of her not surviving the procedure, but there is also an equal risk of heart failure without the surgery. She has two daughters who are expecting babies this year and hopes to live to see her new grandchildren. Pray that the surgery might be successful. June 12, 2010 Jim, the brother of a parishioner who has been diagnosed with throat cancer. He recently suffered heart failure and he is now in brain trauma. Please pray for his recovery and healing. George, a parishioner who will have surgery on Monday for a new heart valve. He requests prayers that he may be able to resume normal activities. Virginia, a parishioner, who is unable to walk and afraid she may have to be admitted to a nursing home. Pray that she might accept whatever lies ahead. June 11, 2010 Josephine, the mother of a parishioner, who has been sick for a while with congestive heart failure. She has taken a turn for the worse and is now only being given treatment to make her comfortable. Please pray that she might experience peace during this time. June 9, 2010 Nancy, the sister-in-law of parishioners, who is dealing with a serious bacterial infection in her knee that has penetrated her bones and ligaments. She is making daily trips to the hospital for IV antibiotics for the next 6-8 weeks, and although only in her 60's cannot get around without a walker. Please pray for God's healing touch and comfort. June 8, 2010 Virginia, mother of a parishioner who is in the hospital with an infection and other complications. Pat, a parishioner who has back problems and is facing possible surgery.Pray that she might find some relief from the pain. Connie, the mother of a parishioner who has been diagnosed with 3 aneurysms. The first surgery will be on July 2nd and the next in February. Please pray that the operation is a success and for strength as she prepares for the operation. Also prayer for her Doctor and his staff that they might be guided in the surgery. John, a parishioner who has been hospitalized since he had emergency back surgery on Easter Sunday with many complications. Pray for his healing and comfort. June 4, 2010 The daughter of a parishioner. She is an unwed mother who now lives back at home. Pray that she might be open to bringing her child for baptism and that she might accept the guidance and love of those close to her. The 8th grade students of St. Sylvester School who graduated last night. May their Catholic education give them a good foundation for future years. Connie, who is having surgery in July for an aneurysm located behind the eye. Pray that the surgery might be successful and for Connie's recovery and good health. June 3, 2010 Dorothy Maiden, a parishioner who died yesterday. Her funeral Mass is on Saturday in Saint Sylvester Church. Dorothy's death notice can be found in the Post Gazette. Joan White, mother of parishioner Andy White. Joan passed away yesterday afternoon. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 9 pm on Sunday at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd. The funeral service will be on Monday (the time is yet to be determined) at Knoxvile United Church, 148 Jacunda Street. Marie, a parishioner, who requests prayers for a new nursing home placement. June 2, 2010 Chris, the friend of a parishioner who has cancer. Please pray that she might find comfort and healing. The special intention of a parishioner. That God might provide direction and answers. May 29, 2010 Frank, the father of a parishioner's friend who passed away yesterday. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace and may his family and friends find consolation and peace. Ted, the grandfather of a parishioner who is in the hospital for the second time in a month with heart failure and his second heart attack. May he find healing and strength. Jim, the uncle of a parishioner who is recovering from surgery this past Wednesday that he might be continue to be restored to good health. Jude who is awaiting results of a legal matter. Pray that the process may be resolved in a timely and fair manner. May 28, 2010 Frank, father of a parishioner's friend who has liver disease.. Frank has been removed from life support. Please pray for him and his family during these next days of his passing to new life. Susan, a parishioner who will be undergoing surgery next week. Pray for a successful surgery and quick recovery. His is undergoing some extensive and uncomfortable tests to diagnose the problem. Max's father Don is battling serious health problems as well. Please remember them in your prayers. Laurie, a friend of a parishioner. She is a gifted teacher that cares about her students beyond the classroom. She has been trying to have a baby for quite awhile now with no success. Please pray for her and her husband as they seek medical help. Tina, a friend of a parishioner. Tina has battled breast cancer successfully. She has just found out that she now must get a full hysterectomy because of cancer cells found in her uterus. May 20, 2010 David and his wife Amber. He is the son of a former parishioner. Amber has breast cancer and is undergoing chemo treatment. She was rushed to the hospital with gall stones, but there is also other problems they could not determine from the CT scan. David has deep vein thrombosis and irregular heart beat. He is subject to dizziness and collapse. Please keep them and their two young babies in your prayers. May 19, 2010 Harry Szewczyk, brother of a parishioner who passed away. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 Noon at St. Sylvester Church. Nadine and her husband Kelly are expecting their second child, but recent blood tests show concern about the health of the baby and carrying the baby full term. May 7, 2010 Tom, a parishioner in Jefferson Hospital. Please pray for his health and that he might receive the treatment needed to bring him comfort and strength. Jon, a parishioner, who is going through a stressful time in his life. Pray that the peace of Christ may with him and the Holy Spirit might guide his decisions and actions. May 6, 2010 Frances, the grandmother of a parishioner, who is undergoing radiation treatments for breast cancer. Robert, great uncle of a parishioner who has beeen diagnosed with intestinal cancer and is also having surgery and radiation treatment to resolve the cancer. Kathy, the co-worker of a parishioner, who is having surgery and treatment for breast cancer. Kara, 25 year old niece of a parishioner, who has a brain tumor. May 5, 2010 Ted, the grandfather of a parishioner who is in the hospital with pneumonia and congestive heart failure. He had quadruple bypass surgery three years ago. Please pray for his comfort and healing. May 1, 2010 The children of our parish who will be making their first Holy Communion this weekend. Pray that they might remain close to the Lord throughout their lives. James Gallagher, a parishioner who died this past Wednesday and will be buried on Monday. His cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and they will begin chemotherapy on Monday. Please pray that this treatment stops the cancer growth and that he keeps his faith and stays strong and remains positive. April 29, 2010 The father of students in our school who has been struggling with liver cancer. Testing shows no increased growth of the disease, but also no shrinkage either. Please pray for him and his wife and family for continued strength from the Lord as they continue fighting this cancer. April 28, 2010 Jim, the father of a parishioner, who has been on our prayer list for prostate cancer. He has finished his radiation and has an appointment on Friday as doctors determine the chemotherapy needed. Please pray for his good health and for some encouraging news on Friday. Lilly, the niece of parishioners, who was on our prayer list before her birth. She is now five weeks old and failing to gain weight and is having seizures. Her father is serving in the army and the family is in Germany. Mary, the mother of a parishioner. The closing of her home of 40 years is today. She is feeling a great loss in the sale of the home and with the death of her husband just over a year ago, she needs prayers to help her to move on. April 27, 2010 Robert, son of a parish employee. He is being deployed overseas this week for the third time. Please pray for a safe tour of duty and return home to family and loved ones. Prayers of thanksgiving for Jack, a parishioner who has been on our prayer list and is grateful for your prayers. Please continue to pray for his good health. April 23, 2010 Amanda, a 14 year old parishioner, who doctors have initially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Please pray for her as she undergoes further testing and for healing of body and soul. Pray that as she adjusts to her condition she might continue to count her many blessings. Matt, a parishioner who is discerning a vocation and how he might answer God's call. April 19, 2010 Beth, the friend of a parishioner. She is in her 40's and has been battling cancer for 10 years and it has now metastasized into the liver, brain and lungs. She has 2 grown sons and a ten year old at home. Please pray that she might seek and turn to God who has not been part of her life thus far. Pray also for her family during this time of uncertainty. April 10, 2010 The brother-in-law of a parishioner who recently had surgery to replace a heart valve and is recuperating at home. Matt, a parishioner who is discerning how he might best serve God and follow God's calling. April 8, 2010 Denny, a parishioner, who will be receiving stem cell transplants next Thursday. He will be in the hospital for several weeks. Louise, the friend of a parishioner who has lung cancer which has continued to spread and is now in her brain. April 1, 2010 Mildred Neckerman, mother of parishioner Sue Lepley, who died yesterday morning of lung cancer. Pray that all will be okay. Domenic, a second grader in one of our Pittsburgh Catholic Schools who recently had surgery to remove a brain tumor. The tumor was found to be cancerous and Domenic has begun treatments that will last about a year. Please pray for him, his brother and sister and his parents. March 18, 2010 Ernie, who was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has metastasized to the lungs and spine. He is in Mercy Hospital awaiting a bone biopsy and further treatement. Weldon who was rushed to the hospital last night with stroke-like symptoms. The mother of a parishioner who is in the hospital. Also for her son that he has the strength and the help of the Holy Spirit to guide her in her decisions. March 17, 2010 The niece of parishioners, who has breast cancer. March 13, 2010 Jay, the disabled adult son of Mary Kay, who is an elderly friend of a parishioner. Jay has recently been in the hospital and is now going into nursing care due to health and infection issues. Please pray for him and his mother. In thanksgiving for prayers answered for Mary, a parishioner who had been unemployed. She begins her new position at the end of this month. March 12, 2010 Fr. James Ruggiero, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh who recently passed away. Fr. Ruggiero's first assignment was to Saint Sylvester Parish. Dave, the husband of a parishioner's friend who will be having surgery on his neck on Monday. Mary, a parishioner who has been seeking employment and is waiting to hear about a position following a second interview yesterday. March 11, 2010 George the uncle of a parishioner who is beginning hospice care at home and has only a short time to live. Pray that he might pass peacefully. A parent who is in the process of legal proceedings to determine custody of children. Please pray that the best interest and care of the children may be foremost in the decision. March 8, 2010 Jack, a parishioner whi is having a stent put in on Tuesday. Pray that all goes well and he can begin rehab shortly. Sherry, the daughter of a parishioner's friend who has been on our prayer list in the past. She is recovering from surgery due to cancer, but is still having problems and more tests are needed to determine if any cancer still remains. Debbie, a friend of a parishioner who is recovering from colon cancer. She has been cleared as cancer free, but got and infection in the hospital which is delaying her recuperation. March 7, 2010 Claire, the relative of parishioners who has inoperable lung cancer which has grown around the pulmonary artery. Please pray for her comfort and for her family as they accept her condition and prognosis. March 6, 2010 Connie, a parishioner who is in Jefferson Hospital. Pray that she might find comfort and healing. George, the uncle of a parishioner who has prostate cancer which has spread into his bones. He is in Jefferson Hsopital following surgery to place a rod in his leg. Please pray that God might ease his suffering. March 5, 2010 Tony, the brother of a parishioner who had brain surgery for a brain abcess last March. It was recently discovered through a second opinion that the infection is back, caused by dental work done two years ago. Please pray for comfort and guidance for Tony in what lies ahead with surgery. Also, that he may find understanding and peace to live without fear. Thanksgiving for the birth of Dominic Jordan, the nephew of parishioners. Also for his mother Jennifer and father Mark as they welcome new life into their homes. March 4, 2010 Alyssa, the daughter of a parishioner's neighbor, who has been on our prayer list. She continues to have renal problems and they are not sure if there is permanent kidney damage or to what extent the damage may be. The family is grateful for your continued prayers. John, age 26, the relative of parishioners, who fell on an escalator suffering a facial laceration and fractured his hip and has 3 months of recovery. Greg, a friend of a parishioner who has been on our prayer list. He has been in the hospital since Christmas with liver disease and underwent a liver transplant two days ago. February 24, 2010 Anthony, the father-in-law of a parishioner who is dying from cancer of the throat. Please keep him and his family in your prayers during this difficult time. February 23, 2010 Paul, a parishioner who is in the process of finding a donor for a needed kidney transplant. Please pray that he finds a match and is able to have a successful transplant. Sue, a parishioner who is recovering from brain surgery. The surgery was successful and Sue is grateful for all the prayers. Please pray for her continued recovery. Rina, a friend of parishioners who had recent surgery to remove cancerous cysts. February 22, 2010 Jack, a parishioner who suffered a heart attack last week. He is having a stent put in today and another in two weeks. Please pray that he continues to make progress in recovering. Sarah, a parishioner who is having minor surgery today to remove precancerous cells. February 19, 2010 David, the brother of a parishioner who will be having a tumor removed from his liver today. This surgery was scheduled for last Friday but was postponed. Keith, a parishioner, who is hospitalized for pancreatitis and is undergoing testing for possible gall bladder problems. February 18, 2010 Anthony, the 16 year old grandson of a parishioner. He has learning disabilities and has been suffering from abdominal pain. Nolan, the newborn son of the relatives of a parishioner. It was feared he may have respiratory problems, but it appears he is healthy for his size 4 lbs. 13 oz. Please keep him in prayer that he might continue to grow stronger each day. Prayers of thanksgiving for Andrea, the cousin of a parishioner who had been on our prayer list. The biopsy results came in yesterday and the cancer DID NOT spread. The mass in the other breast was not cancer. Andrea thanks everyone and that your please continue praying for her as she still has 18 more radiation treatments. February 14, 2010 Debbie, the friend of a parishioner. Her colon surgery was successful and they are checking to see if the cancer spread further. She has been experiencing high blood pressure. Please pray that her recovery might go well and that the cancer is under control. Carmen, a friend of a parishioner, who was just diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer and will soon be beginning treatment. Pray that it is successful and that God gives him the strength and faith that will help in his ordeal. February 13, 2010 Brianne, sister of a parishioner, is in Germany with her husband who is stationed there and she is hospitalized with premature labor. Their baby is due in April. Please pray that they may be a support for each other and that doctors are able to prevent a premature delivery. February 12, 2010 Ralph, a parishioner, who is to have rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder today, due to a fall on the ice before Christmas. Please pray that surgery and recovery go well. Dave, the brother of a parishioner, who is having surgery today to remove a tumor from his liver. Kurt, the son of a parishioner who has been on our prayer list. Kurt will have surgery on Tuesday to do a resection of the liver in an effort to remove cancerous portions. He will need 6 months of chemotherapy following the surgery, so please keep him and his family in your prayers in the coming days and months. February 10, 2010 Jim, the 89 year old brother of a parishioner. He is in the hospital and facing the possible loss of an eye. Please pray that he stays strong in spirit and begins to heal so that his eye might be saved. Jonny, a young parishioner who has been on our prayer chain. He is home from the hospital and his prognosis is excellent. All his symptoms are slowly subsiding and his pain is drastically reduced. Thank you for your continued prayers. Zaini, the brother-in-law of a parishioner. He is recovering from an appendectomy. Pray that his health may continue to improve. February 9, 2010 Judi, who was just laid off from her job. Also for her husband who is recovering from cancer surgery. Also an update on Jonny who is doing much better. He has a few more tests and needs to be taken off the IV before he can be cleared to go home. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Ralph, a parishioner, who was clearing snow and experienced elevated heart rate. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and treated for cardiac arrhythmia. Pray that his current good recovery continues. February 8, 2010 JB who is awaiting release of unemployment funds and resolution on an age discrimination suit. Jonny, a young parishioner who is in Children's Hosp. with several life threatening problems. All who are effected by the snow and cold weather. For those still without power and all for the safety of all who must be on the roads. February 5, 2010 Eli, the 15 yr.old relative of a parishioner who is scheduled for open heart surgery. Please keep him and his family in your prayers and that the surgery and recovery might go well. Debbie, a friend of a parishioner who is in early stages of colon cancer. She is scheduled for an operation on Wednesday, however an abnormal EKG must be resolved first with further testing. Andrea, the cousin of a parishioner. She recently had a partial mastectomy and chemo. They have found a mass in the other breast and she will undergo a biopsy next Tuesday to determine if the cancer has spread. Ken, a parishioner who is still recovering from a stroke. The doctor has informed him he must make a decision about a test that he needs which may put him in great danger of a serious stroke. Please pray he has the strength and guidance to make the right decision. Mary, a parishioner who has been unemployed for six months, that she might find employment. February 3, 2010 Matthew (age 17) Grandson of Ann a co-worker of a parishioner who is having trouble dealing with the loss of a parent and is having extreme anger issues. The Grandparents have placed him in a facility to help him overcome his problems. Gertrude Gorski who was died and was buried today from our parish. Mary's death notice can be found in the Post-Gazette. February 2, 2010 Jim, the uncle of a parishioner, who is having multiple surgeries today due to an accident a few months ago. One is to remove and re-align pins in his leg and knee. The other is to remove a piece of windshield from his forehead. Pray that the surgeries and recovery go well. February 1, 2010 Zaini, the brother-in-law of a parishioner who has been on our prayer list. He had surgery to remove his appendix which was severely infected and is in serious condition at Jefferson Hospital fighting infections from the surgery. Please continue to keep him and his wife Jen and their family in your prayers. Jonny, the son of a parishioner. He has developed an auto-immune complication to a strep infection which will take several months to resolve itself. Because of this kidney functions need to be monitored and there is possibility for internal hemorrhaging. Friends of a parishioner who are in the process of adopting two abused children. Pray that the process goes smoothly and that the children may find a loving environment to be raised. January 31, 2010 Warren, the son of a parishioner who has cancer. A parent of St. Sylvester School students who has been on our prayer list (Dec. 2nd) He has primary liver cancer. Tests show improvement and he just completed another round of chemotherapy this past week. The family appreciates your prayers in the past and asks that you continue to pray for them. January 30, 2010 Elizabeth Narr, mother of parishioner Bill Narr and grandmother of parishioner Julie Betz. Betty passed away on Wednesday. Her obituary can be found in the Post-Gazette Sue, a parishioner who will have brain surgery on Feb. 4th to cure trigeminal neuralgia. Please keep her in prayer on that day that the surgery is successful and recovery speedy. January 12, 2010 Sean Thornton, age 3, who was killed in an automobile accident during the Christmas holiday in Georgia. Sean is from the North Hills and the Thornton family are relatives of one of our teachers at Saint Sylvester School. Sean's funeral is Friday, January 15th. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. January 9, 2010 Charlie, the grandson of friends of parishioners. He has come down with pneumonia and has been hospitalized twice. He is recovering, but still in the hospital in Maryland. His family appreciates your prayers. Patrice, the friend of parishioners who is critically ill and hospitalized. Pray that she might overcome this latest setback and regain her good health. Leona, a parishioner who is undergoing chemotherapy and for her family who journey with her in this struggle. January 8, 2010 Evette, the co-worker of a parishioner, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and will be starting chemotherapy. Pray that treatment is successful. Mike, the brother of a parishioner, who has been on our prayer list. Mike has throat cancer and has completed 35 radiation treatments and 3 chemotherapy treatments. A recent PET scan shows he is cancer free, however he is very sick from the side effects of the treatments and is having surgery to alleviate the condition. Since this cancer is very aggressive and can reappear several months after treatment, please continue to pray for Mike that he remain cancer free and continue to recover. Ed, the father of a parishioner, who will undergo surgery in a few weeks on his neck and spine. He is experiencing loss of feeling in his feet and without surgery the condition could worsen to loss of the use of his legs and breathing difficulties. Please keep him in your prayers as the surgery to relieve pressure of the compacted tissue and nerves is near the base of the brain. Pray that surgery might be successful. He was injured from a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan last week. He had shrapnel removed from his neck, arm and calf at a hospital in Germany and is now recuperating in Colorado.
